Privacy policy

Home Assistant Nest Neil

Updated 22 September 2026. This policy covers Neil Holloway’s personal, non-commercial Nest connection to Home Assistant. It does not cover the wider NHLD website or its contact form.

Information accessed and purpose

With the account holder’s Google authorisation, the integration accesses selected Nest device information, thermostat settings, temperature, humidity and operating status, and permitted home information such as home and room names and postcode. It uses this information to display and control the selected thermostat in Home Assistant. Google Cloud Pub/Sub topics and subscriptions deliver device updates.

Storage and sharing

Authorisation credentials are stored in the Home Assistant installation. Device states and history may be stored by Home Assistant according to its configured history and backup settings. Google processes device information and event messages through its Nest and Google Cloud services. This public website is an information page and does not receive or display the integration’s thermostat readings or credentials.

The integration is for personal household use. Google user data is not sold, used for advertising or shared with unrelated third parties. Access is limited to the authorised Home Assistant installation and its permitted users, and the Google services needed to operate the connection.

Your choices and deletion

The account holder can revoke the connection through Google Account connections or Nest partner permissions, and remove the Nest integration from Home Assistant. Revoking access stops future access; it does not automatically erase previously stored history or backups. Those records can be deleted separately using Home Assistant’s data and backup controls. Retention depends on the configured history and backup settings.

Contact

For questions or a request concerning data handled by this personal integration, contact Neil Holloway through the website contact form. Do not include passwords or access tokens.
